» Cigars vs. Cigarettes

Except for the last two quotes from the Quarterly Review of Wines and Barkley-Rex, although I might not agree completely with some of the tasters’ opinions, the following are unedited comments about DiMeola cigars from blind taste tests done at the two national cigar magazines. Note: One taster refers to the cigar as “maduro.” While the wrapper is dark, it is not a maduro. It is a fully fermented colorado-maduro, which is quite different.

“A dark, slim and veiny cigar. It burns well. The smoke is woody and slightly sweet, with a coconut flavor. Medium bodied” -Cigar Aficionado

“Slim and interesting in appearance, this cigar has a very toothy wrapper. The draw is firm. The meldium-bodied smoke has hints of blackstrap molasses, licorice and charcoal.” -Cigar Aficionado

“This cigar is silky, with some veins. It has a cedary, tangy flavor that grows richer and woodier as it’s smoked. Medium bodied.” -Cigar Aficionado

“Oily, bumpy and veiny, this cigar has a fine draw. It’s woody and earthy, with notes of anise.” -Cigar Aficionado

‘“This originally shaped figurado has some odd flavors. While there are pleasant notes of orange peel and sweet berries, there are also some chemical, musky notes.” -Cigar Aficionado

“The best new cigar of the year!” -Quarterly Review of Wines

“I have customers who won’t smoke anything else.” -Barkley-Rex Tobacconist, New York
